In the new year we are again feeling God calling us as a church to fast and pray. We want to be seeking Him and finding Him in a greater measure in this new season. And asking that He would fulfil His purposes in us.
At our church weekend, Esther Uppal made this suggestion about prayer that we take the one next step. So in this season, we should be asking the Lord how we can give over more time to Him. If you normally pray for 15 minutes a day – can you make that an hour? If you have fasted before for a day, this time, can you manage two or three? And what do you need to lay down for those 21 days so that it can happen?
Throughout the 21 Days there will be a series of different ways we can come together as a church to pray:
A weekly Wednesday evening church prayer meeting at the church at 7:30pm (7th, 14th and 21st)
6am, 1pm and 9pm half an hour prayer meetings on zoom – so that everyone can find a time around their day to join in.
An ALL NIGHT prayer meeting on Friday 16th January from 11pm-6:30am.
Throughout the 21 days, we are also asking people to fast as well as pray. Fasting is a scriptural practice (Jesus fasted) where we seek God by choosing to not respond to other desires for a time. Everyone is not going to do exactly the same type of fast – but we would like to encourage you to try it in this season, even if it isn’t normally one of the discipleship practices you have tried before.
