World Mission

World Mission Support Logo
For many years St Barnabas has sent and supported a number of its members overseas and elsewhere in the UK to do mission work. World Mission Support (WMS) is the body within St Bs charged with providing care and support before, during and after members’ time serving as mission partners.
We are always keen to hear about church members who are considering mission – both long and short term.

“We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God.”
- John R.W. Stott

The World Mission Support comes together once every six weeks to meet, worship and pray. After a time of worship, the team hear about one or two of our mission partners; where they work, what they do and how they are.
The team then follow the prompting of the Spirit to pray as they are led for all our mission partners and world mission. Each mission partner has a WMS link who stays in touch with them regularly and feeds back into WMS to address any particular support needs they have. The World Mission Support Core Team supports the links to do this, and oversees the care that World Mission Support Partners receive.

Three Roles of WMS:

  1. Inspiring: Inspire, educate, resource and draw the church body into action with regard to Cross-Cultural Mission, both local and global
  2. Sending: Resource short and long-term applicants for mission that is beyond St Bs through discerning a calling, preparation, deployment and re-entry
  3. Receiving: Receive short and long-term overseas applicants for mission through St Bs, supporting them through the application process, induction, deployment and debriefing
