2to4 groups

“We all need people with whom we can pray, read the Bible and who get to know us well enough to speak to us with loving challenge and support. That’s what a 2to4 group is, and that’s why we encourage everyone to be in one.” David Brown, Discipleship Pastor

Meet
Find two or three others of the same gender and meet up regularly.

I felt a bit awkward asking someone I didn’t know that well if they wanted to start a 2to4 group with me, but I’m so glad I took the initiative. We talk about everything and have become really good friends.

Every Wednesday – in a coffee shop – men’s breakfast together. It’s become our ritual.

“We take it in turns to host and meet in the evenings and always include Bible study.

“Although we only meet up twice a month, we do a lot of texting prayer requests and encouragement to each other in between.

We meet weekly amongst the craziness of having our toddlers playing around us. One of our members is in Australia at the moment so we include her on skype.

…let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Be known. Be vulnerable and honest. Be supported. Listen and care.

We’ve just started opening up to each other and being vulnerable, and it’s amazing how this is helping each of us with our own walk with Jesus.

I’m the youngest in my two to four, which is great as I get the wisdom from these two older women.”

We’re really honest in our 2to4 and we share stuff that we just wouldn’t tell anyone else.

My group feels small enough for me to share honestly, but large enough that I’m not isolated. There’s something powerful about two or more gathered in his name.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbour, for we are all members of one body… (Ephesians 4:25)

Pray
Pray for one another in your group and regularly until your next meeting.

I know I’ve got people who care about me and pray for me during the week.

I really look forward to seeing my group and leave lighter having shared and prayed together.

There’s something about being open with each other that helps us to be more open with God.

Because we’ve built up trust, we can pray about anything together.

We don’t just meet and moan. We seek God and see him answering prayer, often in unexpected ways.

It’s helping me more missional and keeping me accountable to reach out to those who don’t know Jesus.

It’s really changed my approach to intercession.

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful… (Colossians 4:2)

Go
Challenge and inspire one another to get out there and live life missionally.

It’s helping me more missional and keeping me accountable to reach out to those who don’t know Jesus.

I’m really inspired by how the others in my 2to4 group share with colleagues at work, and I’ve been challenged to be bolder.

We’re in the same missional community so we end up praying for that, too.

“I know it’s a cliché, but I think my 2to4 group leaves me ‘blessed to be a blessing’.

Go into go and make disciples of all nations... And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”… (Matthew 28: 19 -20)

How to get involved:

  1. Find someone else and start a new 2to4.
  2. Join an existing 2to4. Any larger than 4 and the group multiplies.
  3. Ask your Missional Community leader to help you get started.
