Part of the DISCIPLESHIP Ministry of St Barnabas Church
At St Bs we are committed to discipleship that transforms and equips in community for mission and one of the ways we express this is through our EQUIP programmes.
Our EQUIP trainee worker scheme offers people an opportunity to be trained at St B’s for 2 years as Youth pastors, Kids pastors, Neighbourhood pastors, or to work in the areas of Support and Discipleship. Trainee workers gain real “hands on” experience in ministry: both working and taking leadership responsibilities. The people who head up our ministry areas are, we believe, some of the leading practitioners in the UK guaranteeing our trainees the highest quality of development.
Alongside this vocational training we offer leadership development from the wider team of St. B’s and from related New Wine churches. There is also the opportunity to grow both spiritually and academically. In addition to this trainee workers enrol on a course of theological study with one of our partner providers, our preferred one being St. Pauls Theological Centre.
Our trainee workers receive some financial support towards the cost of their accommodation and their studies but they have to meet their living expenses and other costs.
We also run a monthly EQUIP School of Theology led by our Discipleship Pastor David Brown. This is open to members of St Bs and other local churches who want to grow in their understanding of the Bible and Christian truths.
Both these programmes start in September each year and we are recruiting now for our 2012 intake.
